Throughout my life I've always had a tendency
to explore the workings behind everything that I encounter, be it
art, design, politics, culture, religion & spirituality, or just
about anything else that has ever peaked my interest.
As I've developed as an artist, I have made an attempt to create
a nexus point between all of these things. Trying to display connections
through form & feeling in a manner that is based more on gestalt
experience rather than logic.
Aesthetically, I aim to cross boundaries between the urban & the
spiritual and esoteric, finding inspiration from such varied sources
as surrealism, abstract art, graffiti, zen philosophy , eastern
mysticism, indigenous cultures & tribalism.
I see art as a way of life, a way of self discovery and a way of
expressing the inner self. This leads to my work tending to be an
amalgam of all of the various experiences I have at any given time
expressed in abstract form.
Say, if I'm spending a lot of time in nature or working in the garden,
my work tends to take on more 'natural' or 'organic' forms, while
when I'm studying more esoteric inward topics I tend to create more
structured pieces such as sacred geometry studies.
I tend to believe in the opposing notion to the statement that 'Nothing
is sacred.'
Everything is sacred & an expression of the wonder that is all of
creation & I firmly believe that my artistic endevours should always
support the highest ideals in life.
We create reality as we imagine it. Taking hold of that notion frees
us to LIVE artistically and creatively instead of consuming the
majority of our lives.
I also tend to constantly move from medium to medium, exploring
different possibilities that are inherent to each one.
Variety is the spice of life.
I am currently in the process of integrating textiles
into my artwork and moving more into the realm of 'living' art.
That is, art that is more for daily usage & enjoyment and accessible
to anyone. Art should be for everyone, not just for those who can
afford it.
The open nature of my art & the interpretation of it leaves me more
interested in the viewer's perception than my own. It can be an
extremely revealing thing & helps me discover which directions I
want to go with my future works in order to attempt to add the most
valuable creations that i can to the collective human experience. |
